PC Requirements:

To run PC-DNC-2 for MS-DOS, you will only need a 286 PC with 256K RAM, 1 floppy disk drive , 1 parallel port and/or 1 serial port. A hard drive is desirable for running long NC files.

To run the MultiPort PC-DNC Editor for Windows, we recommend a Pentium class PC with at least 256MB of RAM, and one available parallel port for the BTR connection.   A desktop PC is preferred because many laptops use a "power save" mode that limits the output voltage of the parallel port.  The Fanuc controls need a 5vdc TTL signal for it's BTR input.

Input/Output options:

  1. Output for parallel BTR (Behind the Tape Reader) at 300 cps.
  2. RS232 input & output (RTS/CTS or Xon/Xoff) at up to 19.2 kb. (9600 baud on 286s)
  3. RS422 output (for Fanuc Remote Buffer) at up to 2,000,000 baud. (86.4 k-baud is typical)

Program Size:

PC-DNC-2 and the MultiPort PC-DNC Editor for Windows places no restrictions on NC program size. Files can be accessed from Floppy disks, Hard disks, USB plugs, or through a network. Files from any source can be called as subroutines 7 layers deep.

Code conversion options:

Programmable code conversion "on the fly" for running decimal point format files on older CNC's is standard. The PC-DNC Editor features include part rotation, part scaling, fixture offsets, and EIA/ISO translation.
